Founded in 1884 around Nine Mile Pond, Belleview is located between Ocala and The Villages. Nine Mile Pond, now known as Lake Lillian, sits in the center of Belleview’s Historic District and offers walking trails, pavilions, picnic tables, playground, fishing, and numerous festivals & events throughout the year.
North of Belleview you will find the Santos Trailhead & Campground which is part of the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway. The Greenway was once a planned cross-Florida barge canal that spans 110 miles from the Gulf of Mexico to the St. Johns River. The Santo’s Trailhead & Campground is a premier destination for the biking enthusiast with 80+ miles of bike trails ranging from beginner to expert level.
West of Belleview is the equine-friendly Land Bridge Trailhead which spans I-75 and offers a natural and safe setting for humans and animals alike to cross over the busy highway. Adjoining the Cross Florida Greenway is the Florida Horse Park which sits on 500 acres and is a multi-purpose venue used for equine, agriculture, educational and sporting events.
East of Belleview you will find Lake Weir which is one of the most popular lakes for water sports in Marion County. Lake Weir has approximately 9 miles of shoreline and is easily accessed through the Carney Island Park & Boat Launch.
