Founded in 1887, Dunnellon is located in the southwest corner of Marion County. Dunnellon is well known as the home of the Rainbow River which originates just north of town from the first-magnitude Rainbow Springs. The Rainbow River runs 5.7 miles to its confluence with the Withlacoochee River and is a popular destination for kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, tubing, boating, and fishing. Dunnellon also has numerous parks, antique stores, restaurants, and miles of walking/biking trails.
